Emergency/Trauma Services
Trinity Mother Frances Emergency/Trauma Services Trinity Mother Frances Emergency Care Center is staffed at all times with skilled physicians, nurses and technicians who have been specially trained to deal with all medical emergencies, including rapid stabilization of heart attacks, strokes, trauma, poisoning, severe bleeding and other sudden illnesses in adults and children. Champion EMS is the region's most innovative emergency medical service. It was formed by two of the area's leading health care organizations, Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler and Good Shepherd Regional Health System of Longview, combining their EMS resources to provide technologically advanced services to the area. The high-tech communication center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with certified emergency medical dispatchers who can provide emergency care instructions to the callers before the ambulance arrives on the scene. This collaborative effort enables Champion EMS to serve a 35-county region with quality emergency medical services. Each Champion EMS ambulance is equipped with 12-lead EKG with electronic transmission capability to provide in-transit emergency care to victims of heart attacks. Champion EMS plays a key role in initiating the Code STEMI protocol for victims of heart attacks even before they arrive at the hospital. In addition to emergency transport, Champion EMS provides transfer services for patients needing transportation from hospitals to convalescent, rehab or long-term nursing facilities.
The Fast Track program expedites care for non-urgent patients in the emergency room. Fast Track patients are treated by a designated Fast Track staff in a separate area of the Emergency Care Center so they do not have to wait behind more serious patients who often require more time and resources. Patients requiring urgent care are triaged and placed in the Emergency Care Center according to the severity of their condition. Fast Track patients do not delay or interfere with the speed of care for those patients in need. The goal is to provide care for non-urgent patients within 45 minutes to one hour of arrival. |
